Evi
Friends, Family, and some Teachers have all shaped my life, but few people have actually changed my life like Evi Mavrogeorgis. I met Evi through friends at Allegheny College. She was born in Greece, though her parents moved to Pittsburgh from the island of Ikaria just after she was born. Many people at college considered her a close friend, and she considered many people as close friends. Friends and family were her life. She stuck with friends through good and bad and never hesitated to express how much she loved and appreciated us. When she was killed in a car accident during senior year, many of us were devastated. We had lost someone very special. In time, we began to realize that there were still alot of special people still alive. Many important, life-long friendships were formed and have become closer because so many of us were touched by Evi's spirit. I hadn't been in touch with Evi's family in over 5 years. Her brother George lives in NYC, her sister Sylvia now lives in Athens, her parents Matheos and Chrisa moved back to Ikaria. Being in Greece was a great chance to get back in touch with them.
